In Touch…

… and living life to the fullest!

6/14- Book Meeting

We finished discussing “Spending Cash” and revealed many of the secrets that were buried in the story line. The story ends unexpectedly and with the need for an obvious sequel in order to answer many questions and this upset one reader who wanted everything resolved and everyone to live happily ever after. But unlike fairy tales, life does not always end up with all the questions answered. Another point to make is that the family had so much drama, that trying to squeeze it all into one book would have been forced and unfair to the characters. This first book serves as the foundation for a series of books to come.

The book’s focal character, Cash, brought mixed feelings to the group. Some thought her too needy and an emotional wreck. Others understood after reading to the end, that she has a right to have issues. But the upcoming sequel, “Saving Cash”, will show everyone that Cash will develop fully into being able to save herself.

As They Grow

One of the coolest things about kids is watching them grow up and transform from babies to little kids to teenagers to young adults, and finally into adulthood. Watching them grow can be so much fun along the way. All they want is to be acknowledged, loved, respected, and protected.

Some adults often make the assumption that because children are… children, that they do not need to afford them the same respect they are seeking. In our children, we need to plant seeds of love, honor, citizenship, responsibility, commitment, and so much more. Just by spending a few quality moments with your kids, letting them see you act silly shows them that it is okay to let your hair down every once in a while and just have fun. Life is full of stressors, enjoy the moments that aren’t.

Loving Sean

What do you do when God sends you a miracle?

Be thankful. After all that has happened in my life, I am so thankful for a very special package that came my way. The timing was not perfect, but once we understand… we learn to see that God’s timing is always perfect. I was in school carrying a full load and not working at the time. When least expecting, I met my forbidden fruit and like Eve, I took a bite.

After a few months,  I ended up pregnant. Fear! Anxiety! Frustration! Anger! Stress! These were just a few of the emotions that soared through my world. But, there was someone that became more important than my own personal concerns, the life growing inside of me.

On September 7, 2003, a tiny little life prematurely found his way into the world 9 weeks before he was supposed to. Weighing only 3lbs, he had to stay in the hospital for a month before he was strong enough to go home. As I sat beside my little guy’s bed praying to God not to take him from me, suddenly the circumstances surrounding his conception were no longer as important.  Thankfully God heard my prayers and so richly blessed me with a beautiful little baby boy:  Sean William Myric Smith

He is an inquisitive little soul who asks constant questions in order to make sense of his world. Although I believe his month’s stay in the incubator made him somewhat anti-social, he still has a very loving heart. He tells people, “I’m not a kisser… that’s my brother. I’m a hugger.” He is very cautious about meeting people, but once comfortable, get ready for one of those, “A ha… yep…a ha… umm umm” conversations because that’s about all you’ll get in. Sean is my middle son and I love him very much.

You will hear more about him down the road. But here is one of his latest acts of knowledge acquisition. Why does a person have to sleep under all those covers when a pillowcase works just fine? I checked on him late one night and this is what I found.

Yep! He’s asleep in his pillowcase.
